| [Objective]To explore the prevention and treatment methods of Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and provide a clinical theoretical basis for the treatment of COVID-19 from the perspective of "respectively clearing and removing damp-heat epidemic toxin through Tri-jiao pathway" theory. [Methods] By analyzing the etiology, pathogenesis and refractory characteristics of COVID-19, and referring to the relevant literature, the ideas of prevention and treatment of in TCM were summarized, the theoretical basis and clinical application of respectively treating COVID-19 from Tri-jiao pathway was explained, and one case presented as evidence. [Results] The disease was classified as " pestilence " in TCM, and the pathogenesis was that the epidemic pathogenic factor attacked the lung, the lung failed in both dispersing and descending, and the body's healthy Qi was damaged. The disease mainly affected lung, as well as the stomach and intestine. Respectively treatment should be implemented from the "Tri-jiao pathway", and take the following as the basic treatment principle, regulating Qi activity and cleaning up the epidemic pathogenic factor in upper-jiao; replenishing Qi to invigorate the spleen and breaking down the damp-heat of the middle-jiao; clearing the internal organs and preserving Yin, degradating the turbid pathogen of the lower-jiao, in order to achieve the purpose of treating diseases. The case was identified as syndrome of damp-heat epidemic toxin, the treatment was based on the method of clearing away heat and toxic matter , and expelling dampness, the medicine was characterized by transparency and clearness, the effect was regulate Tri-jiao Qi activity, clear heat and dispel evil ,achieved good clinical results. [Conclusion] The theory of "Respectively clearing and removing damp-heat epidemic toxin through Tri-jiao pathway" provides a new idea for the treatment of COVID-19 in Chinese medicine, which can effectively guide the prescription selection for clinical treatment. However, further exploration should be done on new methods and ideas because of the limitations of cases and regions.
